IEG 40:
The Science and Business of Varietal Forestry

July 22-25, 2008
Doubletree Hotel - Historic Downtown Charleston
Charleston, SC

The Benefits of Attending the IEG40 Meeting

1. An improved understanding of varietal and clonal forestry from global experts on a number of important conifer and hardwood species.
2. Presentation of case studies of success in growing varietal plantations.
3. Presentation of case studies on processing wood from varietal plantations.
4. Growth and yield along with silvicultural techniques in varietal plantations.
5. A better understanding of varietal plantation effects on improving the financial return from forestry investment decisions.

Investors in timberland should attend in order to understand the higher values (NPV, IRR) from varietal plantations. By attending, forest appraisers will have an early advantage by knowing how to adequately evaluate stands and plantations of varietal origin. Asset managers from the US will be better informed of overseas plantation opportunities by presentations from South America, Africa, Europe and Australasia and the networking opportunities that this presents.
